How to maximize Transport Efficiency...the MAN Solution
Power density in combination with the highest possible efficiency is the dominant subject to gain the highest transport efficiency for a truck and bus. There are various additional boundaries which have to be fulfilled, like to stay below the future emission limits as well as highest robustness of engine and components. The package of the powertrain has to be adjusted exactly to the vehicle package conditions to optimize an entire vehicle solution.
The report will give an overview of the suitable design of the engine including the exhaust after treatment. There will be systematic overviews to describe the interactions of common rail injection, two stage turbo charging, EGR and exhaust after treatment. It will be discussed in combination with the vehicle boundaries. In addition there will be an estimation for future solutions.
